Bob Johnathan, longtime Southwood resident, was nominated to be our Volunteer of the Month for February in thanks for creating the ice skating rink next to the Southwood public library for an awesome 29 years! Bob says he spends about six hours a week during the winter months flooding the rink and shoveling the resulting ice clear of snow. He gets some help from his wife Vivien, two sons and a few neighbours. Bob’s other contributions to his community include duties on the Southwood Community Association board of directors where he is in charge of organizing a casino every 18 months, raising the majority of the association’s funds.

 

Green carts will be delivered to homes in Southwood in late February and service will start the week of March 5th. From bones to bread, potato peels to pizza, all your food scraps can go into your kitchen pail and green cart. Yard waste can go [...]]]>
