A Southwood Community Association membership has a lot of value in it. Some of that value is easily visible, like when Programs and Special Events are offered from the Community Hall or when signing up for Community sports (Southfour soccer, hockey). Some of that value is, frankly, quite intangible, but nonetheless very important.
Even if you are not interested in any of the Programs or Special Events offered, even if you have no kids participating in local sports, consider what a privilege it is to have a Community Hall and a Community Association at your disposal should you – or your less fortunate neighbours – ever need them.
The Southwood Community Association (SCA) provides you a forum to air any local issues that become topical, from traffic to economic development and beyond. The SCA is the united front you need to give your opinions clout when presented to the City of Calgary through your Alderman’s office. All Southwood residents are invited to the monthly meetings of the Board of Directors (held the second Wednesday of each month at the Hall, except July and August). As a member, you are welcome to contact the President or Vice President at any time to have your issue added to the agenda of the next meeting.
Memberships run from July 1st to June 30th of each year and cost $20 per family. The revenue that flows from memberships is what enables the SCA to offer more diverse programming and to keep our facilities in tip-top condition. If you are not already a member, your community needs your support.
