Newborn and sizes 1-5 Diapers and Pull Ups, diaper wipes, formula, baby shampoo, toothpaste and brushes, feminine hygiene products, shampoo, conditioner and soap.

COSA – Coalition of Seniors Advocates Association - Focus on seniors and disabled issues concerning health, pensions, housing, transportation and cost of living on all government levels – Civic, Provincial and Federal. As the senior population increases so do the senior issues.

We depend on your expertise and input to assist in amending a system that works for everyone. The future – YOUR future! Will health services and seniors care be there when you need them? Will you or your family be able to afford them? We must become the change we want to see. No voice is too small, no contribution is too little. So what can you do? With just a few hours of your time and commitment you can make a difference.

COSA is presently operating with a limited amount of manpower and as a result we are no longer able to advocate as aggressively as we need to. COSA urgently needs your assistance.

The Annual General Meeting of the Southwood Community Association Board was held on June 5, 2010 commencing at 1:11 PM at the Southwood Community Hall at 11 Sackville Drive SW in Calgary, Alberta.

1. Call To Order:

Blaine Moen opening speech – call to all members to get involved and encourage others to get involved with the board.

Motion – Will Ratliffe and Alec Simpson seconded that we dispose of reading the previous minutes and that they be accepted as presented. Carried

3. Financial Statements:

As presented by Alec Simpson (attached). Alec Simpson moved and Don Nauffts seconded that we accept the report as presented. Carried

4. Members Reports:

Casino – A message read by Margaret from Bob Jonathan – need more people to volunteer for our casino nights in July (27 & 28).

Notice of the Special Resolution—Be it resolved that Section 3.1.3 of the Southwood Community Association Bylaws, as amended Oct 15, 2007 be amended to read as follows:

3.1.3. QUORUM

Be it resolved that:

The By-Laws of the Association as to Section 3.1.3 be amended to establish that Ten (10) members in good standing shall constitute a quorum at Annual General Meetings.

Motion Carried.

The school year is almost over and summer vacations upon us.
Everyone will soon be enjoying the wonderful days of summer.
Along with the enjoyment of long warm summer days comes more time to spend in city playgrounds, going swimming or just riding bikes in the neighbourhood.

Block Parents are reminded to display your signs as often as possible.
Children are taught that when the sign is displayed it means help is available at this safe location.We would like to thank all Block Parent volunteers

for helping to make their neighbourhoods safer.

Volunteers Needed for Casino Night July 28 & 29

The next casino to benefit the Southwood Community Association is on July 28 and 29 of this year.

We still need about 10 volunteers to fill the roster. If you are interested in volunteering for a shift, please contact Bob Jonathan at moneywiseman@shaw.ca.

These casinos usually bring in quite a lot of money that in past years has allowed us to tackle major projects like renovating the community hall. There are still have many other things on our wish list that future casinos could help to fund (like making our hall wheelchair accessible). Please give some consideration to this.
